If there was ever a need for Christian education it would be today. With many unfortunate agendas that are hitting our homes through tv, books, social media, etc... and our schools through gender identity, homosexuality, critical race theory, etc.... Christian education is even more vital in our society. God gave us the first institution in the Bible when he gave us the Christian home and yes it was a "Christian" home. Adam and Eve walked with God daily, they talked with God daily, and they lived according to his Word.

The second institution that God gave us is the New Testament local church. It is a place where the church (a body of baptized believers) come together, learn from God's Word, are given opportunities to serve in the church, and to worship God our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. The church has been commissioned to win souls to Christ. The Sunday school is where many children are taught God's Word and are encouraged to apply it. It is one of the many areas of the education department of the church. The pulpit is the first and it is to be the primary teaching place in the church. Every teaching and preaching ministry flows out of the pulpit in the church.

Then we see the development of the Christian school. Where does it come into play and why is it important? The Christian school is much like the church in the fact that the Christian school comes along side the home and helps mom and dad educate the children from a biblical worldview. The primary institution of education that we see in the Bible is the home. The Christian school assists mom and dad in keeping with the education of the Bible, godly living, and ministry minded. I want to give you some reasons why you should highly consider Christian school for your children.

A Biblical Worldview

Children need to have a biblical worldview to help them understand the world in which they are living. Many children are taught to look through the lens of an imperfect, depraved, and broken lens. You can't truly understand the world around you when you can't see it correctly. Children are trying to learn about the world they live in through a creation that is imperfect, immoral, and bent towards an evil nature. Children need to see this world for how it really is and the only way to do that is to look through the lens of God's Word, the Holy Bible. Wouldn't it be more understanding to learn about this world from the Creator who created it, who sustains it, and one day will create a new one? If we want to know about something in a book we would go ask the author who wrote it. If we want to know how this world was created and how it works we need to learn from the Creator God. The Bible says in Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." If we want to teach our children the truth we have to take them back to the Author and Creator of the universe, God.

A Christ-Centered Environment

Another reason you should highly consider Christian school for your children is the Christ-centered environment that Christian schools can offer. Now, with me saying that I completely understand that Christian schools are not perfect and need a lot of work. Christian schools provide a safe, moral, and healthy atmosphere for both students and staff. It is wonderful to me to know that at any given time during the day a teacher can stop a class and bow their heads to pray for someone. They can open God's Word in front of the whole class and teach the Word of God. Children can come to a weekly chapel service and hear the Word of God preached. Right living is promoted and the Bible is the authority for all faith and practice. Children can learn in an atmosphere fostered by Christian principles and Christian staff who love and care for them. Salvation opportunities and the gospel are always presented.

An Investment Is Being Made

The first thing I always hear from parents I talk to or from inquires we get for the school is how much does it cost. I know, as a parent of four, how tight budgets can be. I also understand that we are always trying to get more bang for our buck but we can't treat Christian education like it's a car buying experience or like we are buying a house. Our children are a gift from God (Psa. 127:3) and we are to be faithful stewards of what God has given us (I Cor. 4:2). When we make an investment into Christian school for our children, we are making an investment that will bring big returns. You will one day have to replace your car, you may one day have to buy a different home, and one day you will leave this world with nothing. The investment you make into your children and their education will last for eternity. The reason is because your children will, Lord willing, be saved, have a top notch education, and will know how to lead others to Christ. Your children will have opportunities to lead, to serve, and to have fun learning. When you get to heaven only eternity will tell the investment that Christian education made in your child's life.

These are just a few reasons why you should highly consider Christian school for your student. Here in West Virginia, our state has passed a scholarship opportunity that would pay almost 100% of your child's tuition. This has been a huge blessing for many families in West Virginia and across the country. You really need to take advantage of this amazing opportunity and invest into one of the greatest gifts that God has given you, your children. If you are living in the Roane County area please consider Faith Christian Academy in Spencer.
